Why I Write

I remember the first book I read.

I forget the title, but it was by Stuart Woods. I was a teenager, reading out of boredom. There was a scene where the protagonist was trying to run, half asleep, with a sprained ankle. Remember that dream? Well, it was awesome! Then there was Stephen King. And Dean Koontz.

Now, there is Colleen Coble, Terri Blackstock, Ted Dekker and many others that write Faith Based mysteries and suspense that rival James Patterson and John Grisham.

For me, I love writing mysteries. Plotting and planning the twists and turns. Leading you down a dead end road. Revealing the unexpected. Keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

But then Jesus changed my life. Now, within those same mysteries there might also be an underlying message of hope. Or Grace. Or forgiveness. Or a realization that will have an impact on your life. The story may be fiction. The impact Jesus has on our life is real.

My prayer is that the stories I write will change lives. That's why I write.
